Biophrose size has been derived from a gorse. It is hydrophilic, macro porous, less specific and has carboxyl groups that can react with other chemical groups. Mainly used to separate biological macromolecules and downstream products of genetic engineering.

Biophrose HF, a cross-linked agarose gel microsphere is mechanically very strong, pressure-resistant and is suitable for chromatographic separation at high flow rates.
